Volunteering hours for City Council?
StopRocketShip.com has obtained the following email from a parent at Rocketship. Rocketship parents are required to volunteer 30hours per year. In the past, they have received 5 volunteer hours for attending public meetings. The Tamien meeting is now garnering them 10 hours, 1/3 of their yearly commitment! Are these volunteer hours going to serve the children of the community, or are they going to serve Rocketship’s software profit machine?
We should note that when Washington area parents come in protest, they are receiving NOTHING. They figure out how to get themselves to the meeting, no one provides food, and they get themselves home. Many are planning to walk to City Hall (a distance of a few miles), with young children in hand. The contrast is stark.
